Oil pump?

i'm hearing some noise in the engine bay when my '92 runs for the first few minutes of the day. once the car warms up, the noise subsides. this noise is something i would describe as metal rubbing against metal at a fast rate. the oil level is at full, however i have no way of checking the oil pressure myself. any one know what could be causing this noise?

goes away when warm...?

normally most internal sounds gets worse w/ heat expansion.

i think you need to narrow down sound location. between crankcase or head. i imagine its in the crackcase but the source could be multiple of issues

now does it sound like pinging or banging sound or more like scraping?

from the block?

you got a clearance issue most likely.

has anything happened to the engine in the past say 6 months.

something like this isn't done on its own... usually forced from something noticable.

your going to have to do an oil pressure test... bottom line first thing to do.

hmm

Does your car smoke at all on startup... sounds like something in the valvetrain. But a Drill sound.. u kinda have me stumped there... does it sound like the noise is coming from inside the motor, or have u the chance to listen in the engine bay to about where the noise is coming from... Valve seals will make a light tapping noise when started, smoke a bit, then slowly but surely go away... I am sure you already know this... but I am just throwing ideas out there

Check the area of the water pump, alternator bearings, PS pump (if you have one).
