Later model AW11 better than earlier one in suspension design?

I have been finding mentioning here and there of how the 85-86 has worst brakes and worse suspension geometry compared to the 87-89. Are there more informtaive links where i can read up on this please? thanks

well, your statement contradicts itself.......

and the handling (stock vs. stock) really depends on t-top, hardtop, or sunroof car, as there is flex in the roof.....

but the early mk1's came with rear swaybars (and later, as of 87 they didn't).... but starting in 87 they got larger rear brakes......

i see, yeah i got one with a sunroof, which i wanted, dont like t-tops, but i dont think that a sunroof would make a HUGE amount of difference right? llos like you got lots of aw11 experience! did all 86's come with swaybars?

87-89 had larger brakes, yes. They also supposedly don't suffer from the easily warped rotors that the 85-86 do.

All 85's had the rear sway bar. And I think all SC models got it too. I have seen some 86's with it, but most seem to not have them.

The front struts on the 85/86 have 3 bolts, whereas the newer ones have 4. Not sure if this really helps anything.

I know there are other differences... but that's off the top of my head.
