I really don't know the answer to your question, but my guess is no. Unless u went with the 93+ tranny which would then be with limited slip diff. Then u might have to... But I can't imagine that the turbo and non- turbo setups are different from eachother, as the factory usually puts axles that handle much more power than they come with from the factory...
If you are dropping in the 3SGTE, you are going to want the tranny for that engine, not the tranny for the 5SFE. They are geared completely different and they use different axles.
Maybe you should clarify which engine your car ALREADY has.
By your previous statements, I was thinking you have a 1991 non-turbo MR2 that has the 5SFE engine and you are asking about dropping in the turbo engine (3SGTE).
If that is the case, then you will want to use a the tranmission for the 3SGTE and the axles that goes with it. Having LSD or not does not change that.
You will need to get the axles that are appropriate for the transmission you are going to be using.
I would highly suggest that use the transmission for the engine you are going to use.
It might also be worth noting that there are different axles depending on if you have ABS or not.
Ohh I get it now, and yes, I do have a 91' non-turbo, with no ABS I believe. This might be a stupid question I'm about to ask, but would happen if I do drop in a 3sgte with out changing out the axles, or will it just not fit?
I think that the abs car should just have an abs ring. But take it from me, the 91 axle pretty much doesn't exist without abs. Thats what I am looking for right now for my mr2. But to be safe I would switch out the axle assembly. It may cost a good bit of money, but if you are already spending the money on the engine swap, you gotta do the job right. If the axle breaks while you are driving you could have a lot more that the cost of an axle repair.
yeha you have to change out your axels if you are dripping in the 3sgte tranny! I had to do the samething on my car when i put in the turbo tranny with my car. I didnt know that aobut the ABS though that is nice to know. That might be why my abs light is on as well! good to know but yeha hyde is right you do need to change the axels accordingly to the the tranny.
