suspension mods for added weight?

Hi all-

For an MR2 EV (electric vehicle) project I've got going I need to increase the load carrying capacity of a Gen1 MR2 by about 500-700lbs. Ideally the ride height would also be lowered about 1". The GVW on these cars stock is about 2800lbs (curb weight about 2200) so I need a suspension change that allows for about 3500 GVW or 3000 curb weight. Handling is not too big of a concern but should be safe.

Ideas?

Just found an '85 registration MR2, decent body and interior, no rust at all, dying engine, good tranny, awaiting pickup.....
