Cheapest and Easiest Way To Turbo An N/A...?

First your going to have ask yourself have you seen it done... and what was needed.

I've seen this... in a car and i've seen the car actually drive away w/ it. This isn't a message board or youtube video. I seen it and this time I actually asked the guy about it.

Install the turbo in stream w/ the exhaust.

What I mean is the intake to the compressor housing is spooled by the exhaust stream.

Have a pipe run straight up and into the throttle body... only thing i don't know is how he setup the exhaust side of the turbo... I'll find out today.

Because of the stock internals and low performance head youd have to run low boost...

But you figure exhaust pressure is harder or faster than intake. So the turbo will spool faster and at lower RPMs...

Imma see this guy today and find out more but... something to ponder on...

wow, i was on STS's site a few days ago looking at the info they had, it was like a Q&A page.

http://www.ststurbo.com/benefits i read through it and found it interesting, but i dont think it would work for us. our engine is already in the back, and another note was that they designed them for low spool, say 2500-5000 as most american muscle cars redline early around 5400 etc. where as we have 7k+ redlines. im not an expert, but i think we are out of the turbo's effective range?

this was one of them, has a movie too.

yea i got into reading it too... it doesn't work the way i thought...

but you see that guy who rear mounted a turbo on a cavalier in about 12 hours...

its wierd cause some people say it works better... some say it doesn't work at all... and some say it works ok...

i guess it depends on the application... but the cavalier is a 4 cylinder...

i think the fact that out engine in the back is a benifit... cause most of the cons of the application is the long piping needed to run the turbo back to the front creates a bigger turbo lag... the fact our exhaust is right underneath the motor would in fact be a plus in this situation.

re route the pipe from your intake now to the turbo... the turbo to a trunk mounted IC and from there to the throttle body.

theres a dyno on one of the links that had considerable gains

Got to Maple Grove's Friday Night Grudge Racing this weekend. We had good, cool air, and was able to really put the turbo system though it's paces.

I was very happy with the results:

Run 1- 14.65@95.1 with a 2.19 60'- (this was at the street 6psi setting)

Run 2-14.31@97.27; 2.18 60'
Run 3-14.20@98.96; 2.23 60'

Run 4-13.96@98.72; 2.09 60'

The last three runs were on my stage 2 boost setting (10psi). I reached my goal to break into the 13s with the system. Bottom line- the remote mount turbo systems do work. Who would have guessed you could get a 178K mile 2.8 into the 13's without even pulling the valve covers?

I was glad to finally get the thing to launch as well. The short times aren't great, but quite an imporvement over the 2.4s I ran last track outing. I knew after my first 10psi run that this thing could hit the 13's if I could get it out of the hole properly.

this is also from the cavalier

MR2 5S-FE 2.2L N/A

Use a CT26 Turbo Mounted Before the Rear Sub-Frame after the flex pipe
3Sgte Crankshaft
JE Forged Pistons and Rings (Dome Type To Lower Compression)
Eagle Connecting Rods
Ported Head w/ Ferrea Valves and Polished

Run Your Aftermarket Intake Straight Into The Compressor Inlet Side Of Turbo.
Compressor Feed Can Go Stright Up The Back Firewall And Into The Throttle Body Or Up A Little And Into A Trunk Mounted Intercooler. Then Into The Throttle Body. Run A Pipe From Your Catalytic Converter To The Exhaust Feed Of The Turbo. And The Exhaust Outlet Goes To The Muffler.

Because Of How Close The Turbo Will Be To The Muffler It Will Be Stable No Support Brackets Required.

Fuck A Swap... I'm Doing This.

Imma start researching parts... and most important the labor and cost for the custom piping.
