is mr2 gen 2 has street pip? i mean the pip with no catback? im looking for some good performance pip, but i dont know which one is good for mr2. i think i dont want to change the header now, cuz i still have stock engine on my car, i will do header after i swap my engine. thanks. i dont know anything about mr2s pips. so please help. is mr2s dont have mid-pip? will i have a lot of question... so sad.
by the way i have 91 mr2-turbo.
what the hell is a pips???...do u mean exhaust system??...if you have a turbo..you will not be changing the "header"...its called an exhaust manifold....i'm not sure what u want to do after u swap your engine....
will i know all this, but i dont know if they hav eone without cat. i think people dont really check on that, but if they do i can just say i dont know. i just bought it online... will anyway. i dont care this, but i want something that good for performance. i dont know if no cat can get you more HP. i want know what kind brand is good for mr2. and when i can change them, cuz i read something said when i have stock engine change them id not good for the car. i mean the whole exhaust system. thanks. i do have more question but i will ask when i have more info about this...
You can get a complete racing exhaust system for the car without the catalytic converter, but they are for " off road use only". Not legal for street use.
The cat should not be your biggest concern. The B-Pipe is the most restrictive element in the exhaust... I can't remembner if it comed directly B4 or after the cat. I imagine that it is in the back of it, and a cat back exhaust should replace the b-pipe, which is basically a secondary cat!!!!!!.... I will paste a note from the power primer here for ya. !!!
Much more important to the stock 3S-GTE than a less restrictive air intake is a less restrictive exhaust. The most restrictive portion of the stock exhaust is the b-pipe between the downpipe and muffler. This pipe contains a small catalytic converter so it is not legal to upgrade it in some states even though the primary catalytic converter in the downpipe cleans the exhaust enough to meet emission requirements. There are many aftermarket exhausts that replace the stock muffler and b-pipe. Choose one constructed with 2.5" or 2.75" mandrel-bent pipes. Any of these will yield an extra 10rwhp. If you are fortunate to live in a location without emission restrictions or to afford an additional exhaust system to put on just for off-road use, replacing the stock downpipe with a 2.5" downpipe will gain you another 5rwhp. At this point, you should be able to net around 220rwhp at the dyno.
what kind brand is good?? is the price so bad for the whole system? if i want change the pipe system, may i start now and just keep the pipe on till i swap the engine and use the same pipe system for later too??? thanks!
Ok, U can go ahead and make your own exhaust system, and be a bit cheaper.. there are many different mufflers to choose from.... the exhaust place will surely curse you out as they do the job, but it is the same price never the less..... taking out the old exhaust is a pain in the ars. Just get a good idea of what kind of exhaust style u want, and flow with it... purchase the muffler, and have the exhaust mechanic make the rest if money is your main concern.
U can spend thousands on exhaust if u really wanted to, and you would get a really nice looking and sounding exhaust, or you can buy the muffler, resonating tips, and have the shop make the rest. At the end of the day, it will all be better than factory and sound better as well.... so long as u buy quality muffler(s), and tips. Just make sure that the B-Pipe is replaces with straight piping.
Please try to make your posts more readable..... I don't mean any offence whatsoever, but sometimes it is very hard to understand what u are talking about.....
Please don't take offence to this post....... I am just trying to help out misinformed posts on account of mis-spelling.... might be confused for a different part of the car.
reason for bad performance in exhaust is making it too big... the air flow out should never exceed amount coming into the engine...
also EGR operates off exhaust backpressure... well the MR2 type EGR does... negative back pressure tranducer type... means will the absence of backpressure in the exhaust and EGR opens and starts recycling exhaust taking away from performance...
biggest issue is not to exceed intake...
pretty much just get a street application... cat back... unless your in a full race setup you won't need anything else.
As per the usual The Knight Fall is very correct, I was just tryin' to save the guy some mula... unless he has all kinds of money.... Do u think it better at 2.5 " or 3 "
