Thanks.

The 11 sec vs 12 sec MR2s was shot by my good friend Scott Barton.
It's one of my favorite videos

Hehe

Wasn't sure if u had ever seen it from a different cars perspective. I like the 12 second car, and I would like to have mine right around that horsepower. Even though u blew his doors off.... I just want the every day driver that doesn't suck down the gas as much, and doesn't cost as much to build as yours did... Is there anyway to get a mods list of what he did??

He has since sold his car to Garrett of Wolfkatz Racing.
But you can still read about Scott's car on his site:
http://www.scottbarton.net/MR2/

The dyno shown is not reflective of the 12.5 run.

12s are not all that expensive:

$600-$800 intercooler
$75 - SPAL fan
$100 - intake
FREE - get rid of fuel cut
$500-600 - exhaust
$50 - MBC
TOTAL: $1325-1625

People have touched 12s with just that ^^ ... but to make it much easier,
grab a $2100 turbo kit that includes turbo/injectors/fuel pump/ROM tuned ECU/fuel rail.

tuning is very important... increasing efficiency by increasing airlfow, reducing pumping losses... exhaust scavenging... fuel and ignition timing... little things that make a huge difference

Curious (Jeff Fazio)

This question is to Jeff, as u are sponsored by "Chico Race Works"... The engine kits that this website is offering (build your engine after being shipped) seem kind of pricey as compared to Chico Race Works. But they list all of the stuff they do, and seems well worth the money. They talk about building the bottom half of the engine quite a bit, as to where I hear alot of people only building the head... So if u are going 400+ HP is it necessary to build the top and bottom, or just a safety preference?? And to what advantages do u get from upgrading the crank?

I'm not engine expert ... but this is about the basics that I know and understand:

*head work, like over sized valves and longer duration (or higher lift) cams will increas the VE of the engine (air flow) and make it possible to make more power at the same boost level.

*head work, like springs & shimless buckets will allow you to more safely rev to a higher RPM

*bottom end work, like fortged pistons and upgraded cranks & rods will make the engien stronger and be able to handle more detonation without breaking

*bottom end work like boring & stroking, increase the displacement of the engine increasing low end torque and increasing turbo spool

That's about what I know. I'm a racer, not a builder
I have no knowledge or experience with racetep.

ok

so basically working on the bottom end of the engine increases the amount of intensity the engine can take b4 detonation (very good thing) and upgrading the bore and stroke (stroker motor) will give u more capability of low end lorque. Also very important seeing as this is a turbo model car. So all in all, people that only build up the top of the motor, tune it to higher psi, and push the engine to the max, have alot to gain by building the lower end of the motor, thus giving them more torque. And capability of 22 psi ++... And with the top end seeing a slightly higher displacement, and higher revs gining u alot of HP and Torque advantages . So all in all it is always better to do the bottom at the same time u are doing the top.. But why the price fluctuation between the 2 shops??

Chico Race Works - CRW stroker longblock w/CP forged pistons start at $3775 w/$500 core charge

Top End Performance - $3900 .00 using your core
(this is the entire engine Top and bottom (long Block).

I have no idea why Top End's price is so much higher.

... like I said, I have zero knowledge or experience with them.
