New here, need help plz!

hi there, let me start out by saying that i've always wanted a 91+ MR2 since i was a kid. however around here, they are still quite expensive. recentley, i was about to jump on one with front end damage for $1000, but when i called to pick it up, it was sold.

now this car came up now:

Comment: Glass t-tops, 5 speed, mint blue cloth interior. Front collision damage, includes complete front clip, new Tom's front bumper. 2.2L runs like a dream, 80 KM. Super clean, non smoker car ! Great winter project ! $ 3995 obo

i'm really considering picking up this car. here's the thing tho. i currently drive a 94 Acura Integra that i've done quite a bit too.(did everything myself except paint) here's a pic of it:

i'm also in the process right now of building a turbo motor for it (forged pistons, rods, all machine work and everything new etc) and a turbo setup. the setup is a T3/T04E 60trim garett turbo with a turbonetics evolution wastegate, top mount manifold etc. here's the motor:

now i was wondering, that if i pick up this MR2, i am going to just drop in a different motor for the integra and use the turbo and wastegate on the MR2. now i know i'll have to fab up a downpipe etc for the MR2, but would i need some kind of aftermarket exhaust manifold?

also, i was wondering, how easily could that front end on the MR2 posted above be bent? good chances that the frame is bent? i havent' gotten a chance to look at it but will soon; it's just kinda far away.

what are some of your opinions on buying this car? should i go for it or just finish the integra and keep on looking for a proper MR2? i'm not afraid of fixing her up, just don't want to spend money on a lost cause. also the seller says it comes with a "toms front bumper" anyone have a pic of what this looks like?

thanks in advance for the help!

$4000 for that car?? that seems pretty expensive for one with a messed up front. IMO that car is worth ~$2k. you seriously can't find a better deal than that up in canada?

dude i do free lance body work... everything from body, dents, and paint... and from wha i see that is a nightmare...

your gonna double the price for the car alone in body work...

if you do it yourself... you'll save money but never come close to the quality... the cut and weld of the clip has to be so percise its not even funny. and the car will prolly never handle as well as orginally designed w/o some major stiffening and frame support. its pretty insane. i'd consider that car a total loss...

like Zz_005_zZ said i wouldn't touch that thing w/ a ten foot pole... unless your money is really really green

I agree. Your Acura looks great. If it is a statement about your expectations in a car, which I'm sure it is, you could get frustrated with that 91 MR2. Turbo models are the most fun and most desireable on the market. If it were me, I would fix the Acura up and sell it for a good price (assuming it is worth your time and $ for what it would sell for after it is done). Then find an MR2 Turbo that is in verifiable good condition. The problem with the one in the photos is you don't know it will ever handle right or how much it will take to fix it up. Good luck. Either way, I hope you get an MR2 that you do up right, like the Acura. You will find it lot's of fun, and a good investment. We need great owners that will keep awesome MR2s.

There is no way I would pay $4000 for that MR2.

I bought my white non-turbo for $4500 6 or 7 years ago and it was completely fine - no damage.

I bought my green turbo for $1750 with a dinged front-fender.

That price is grossly out of the norm.

thanks for the responses guys,

a relitive of mine has a body shop with a frame straightener (the same place that did the paint job on my car) however you guys are right. the car won't drive straight again, and that's alot of money i have to put into getting that frame straight, swapping front clips; i'd just rather not do that as the car will most likely see track time. thanks again for the help, i guess i'll keep looking for my MR2 (i'll own it one day! )

They arent that cheap. You would be lucky to find a turbo model for the price he paid for his N/A in mediocre condition.

Mr2's are pretty cheap here in Florida, well most cars, especially around the MIAMI area, almost all their cars in Miami are cheap....err....well, inexpensive ......just go on AUTOTRADER.COM and type in this zip code 32824 and click 300 for the mile range and your set from there, just look at the car, make a few calls, etc etc, but your best bet is buyin a car from a old person lol, thats how I got my Mr2, goodluck though.

I will never but another car from miami ever again. That is where I bought my 1993 rxy, and my old mr2, .... both were ragged out, and were probably dragged, but unknowing little me purchased the cars with the intentions that the owners were telling the truth about the cars...... stupid stupid stupid... I H8 miami, and will never purchase from there ever again.
