basically....

basically the only reason people buy the 1st gen mr2 and put a 2nd gen engine is because of the body style? and same with people buying the 2nd gen and swapping the engine with a 3rd gen. right? or am i wrong?

Eds, you need to be cleear if you are talking about gens of MR2s or gens of the MR2 engine.

People put the turbo engine into MK1s for a varety of reasons. Some like the body style and other want the drastic performance advantage of a car that is several hundred pounds lighter. Others simple love how the MKIs handle ... they are completely different than the MKIIs.

As for engines in the MKII, some people get all excited about the GEnIII engines because they can say they have a "JDM" engine and/or because under some very specific situations, it offers a power advantage.
