Question Price quote for my Mr2

Hey,
Hows it going? I own a 1991 Mr2 turbo and was possibly thinking of selling it and purchasing a car that I could use all year round. Its all original and no mods and is mint condition. It has only 19000 kms on it and yes its the original engine. I was just wondering what price i should i sell for because I looked at all the sites and they arent too helpful? Also if i was too keep and give it to my younger brother, do you recommend putting on vertical doors or not???

Thanks

Michael

every 100km = 60mi

so he's almost at 120k miles thats kinda low... not too bad in my book if i had cashes i'd say 6-7000USD... we don't have any pictures of the body or interior conditions then there's the question of service records... the $$$$ figure isn't a easy thing to say dude. BOTTOM LINE: its worth HOW MUCH SOMEONE ELSE IS WILLING TO PAY FOR IT!!!

there's my williness

HTH

he said 19000km, so 12k miles, should be worth more than $7k with that few miles.

As far as the vertical doors go, if you're brother would like them, put 'em on. If not, don't. Also, on an otherwise stock car, I don't think they're necessary. If it was a show car, maybe, but MR2s attract enough attention as it is.

Ya, I already own it, and everything is original. Everything is perfect. But I was wondering would vertical doors ruin my body or are they perfectly safe for everyday driving?

the hinges on vertical doors are usually weaker. I've talked to 3 people that have them, and a few mechanics who don't really like them, and on most types if you close the doors too hard you can bread the hinges off completely. this is mainly because its only one hinge, while most stock doors have 2 hinges. that is the main reason I would never do that to a car, the other two reasons being that it is cliche, and that its ricy, but if you want it then do it. it would be a shame on such a virgin car though.

12k miles... completely stock is an MR2 owners dream... too bad its canadian... i'd have to california'ize it... which is a pain and could get costly...

and i saw VDC's on a 300c... kids thought they was ballin' at a gas station... until the driver's side rear door fell off...

i laughed my entire way into work... i'm actually laughing now about it...

The doors are too radical for a mod, in my opinion. They will immediately draw opinions of love or hate. Most people already like MR2s and don't ever point out that the doors are a weak point for appearance. Selling it would be a lot harder. They aren't as reliable. I've heard of seal problems also.

Is the mileage (KMs) that low, or is there another zero or two? Thats only an average of about 750 miles per year. I agree, that should put the value up to $15-20,000.

It would not be a bad idea to keep it. I wouldn't give it to a rookie driver for a first car (not sure about your brothers age, ...).
