Call salvage yards. The Toyota dealer parts department can be a good source for what salvage yards to check for Toyota parts (or they may even know of someone who has a used head for sale). Buy some gaskets or parts from them if they help you out.

Check websites and e-bay for a used one. Ask about not just MR2s but Camrys ... actually search for the engine itself, not a replacement for the MR2.

Is the cylinder OK?

Are you sure you need a new head?

Ouch! I picked up a spare head in good condition from Ebay for $100.00 ..of course, the piston is a differnet story. Might as well buy a set of forged..
