a stand alone is a FULL control unit and only required if you plan to write tunes and plan on a full race build.

its unlocks everything...

I know what they are, I was just looking for opinions as to what people thought was the best.... then stating if it was a standalone unit, or a piggyback.

well you need to decide what your ultimate goal for that engine is...

its not a matter of whats best... its what you need for what you plan to do

You can use a stand alone on a 100% stock engine,
it does not only apply to "race builds."

I didn't realize that.
What advantages can you expect from using it on a stock engine?

Factory "tunes" are relatively generic and are very conservative since the engines are warrantied.

If you slap an EMS onto a stock car, you can:
... tune a bit more agressively for more power.
... clean up little hiccups in the graph which makes your power band much smoother, even at normal driving conditions.
... improved fuel economy.

Megasquirt here too...

Hyde is right about fuel economy. I get better than stock and I have 1.4 extra liters
