EBAY Cheaper intercooler

What are the deal with these??? They seem to be made about the right size, have the right piping, and about the same thickness as the GReddy or HKS. I know most knochoffs are crap... but my curiosity gets to me on this... after all it is only an intercooler... what can u really go crap on other than bad welding?

hmm

I think the entire intercooler is thicker, and has polished or chrome IC pipes

the only difference between name brands and knock offs is name brands are proven to work and are usually always warranty...

knock offs claim to perform the same way because they are designed alike... but never had any research and developement to prove it. never come w/ warranty. i have a mix off knock offs and performance pieces on my car... some things are ok... others you should go for best product which usually has the biggest price, there is a reason why they cost so much.

I was told by someone who Knows a shitload about MR2's....that, the intercooler you are looking at is complete garbage and wont work....also it wont fit.

I asked him about the same product when I was looking for an intercooler.

Just look for a Real one. there are plenty of traditional Side mount MR2 intercoolers out there....and Cellica GT4 top mounts too.

I have a Cellica GT4 Top mount, its great and only cost me $100

i wouldn't forsee why it would be considered crap as long as:

1) isn't much welding slag in the fins
2) the endtanks are straight & smooth
3) the welds are good

sorry

I copied the shortcut from the wrong one... this one is from xs power, and is only 400.00
it uses most of the factory IC pipes so that u can still use the factory bypass valve, ans is a 4 " core...... plus u get a little chrome with it. but I have definately heard of xs power b4.
So now tell me your opinions... and sorry for the error

ss autochrome is notorious for poor fit.

really? I'm really curious about how low profile I can keep the car. I like the fact that it's anodized black. the turbo is in the front of the engine so it isn't immediately visible, and the car won't say "turbo" on it. how loud is the stock turbo?

The Berk intercooler is easily the best bang for the buck IC out there. For a fraction of the price you get silicon couplers, shrouds and a fan..... with numbers dyno proven to outperform the Greddy IC. Ebay cores are really no different... though the piping is an utter mess.

the stock turbo is not loud by any means i got my ct-26 rebuilt and alot bigger and you can just barly hear it. (also good for a sleeper because of having the same housing and all)

keep in mind i also have a totally illigal exhaust.....and if i roll my windows up all i hear is the spool but that is the badass part it is a undercover monster :P

this IC i will definitly buy for my mr2 thanks for the link.
