Distributor

Ok I found out what my problem is with my Mr2.....Its the distributor.....my mechanic told me he'll fix it for 350.....is this a good price?

too much...

besides you can't fix a distributor... you can replace it or parts inside...

but still R/R the entire thing and setting the timing (which a good tech can R/R w/o messing up the timing) shouldn't cost that much.

get a print out of the estimate and lets see what he's charging you for.

i noticed from another thread you got this repaired, but for future references, i had this problem also, a distributor alone can cost from 40$ used to 150 rebuilt, depending where you get it. its a, wel, hassle to take off the distributor on a aw11 because its impossible to see the screws, if you have alot of patients you can probably do it. I had a swapped done and my mechanic installed the rebuilt distributor for free because teh engine was already off.

aw11 dizzy's are easy to r/r.... the HARD part of it is making sure you have the teeth aligned right as the shafts aren't offset like toyota FE head dizzy's are....
