URGENT Help - Speedo - Electronic to Manual

I am transplanting a late Gen-3 3S-GE setup into my 90 SW20. I can connect the speedo cable, but want to know what the effect will be if I do not connect the electronics from the box to the computer.
Has anyone done this before? Will the computer misbehave if it doesn't the speedo feed? What is the best way to deal with this (short of rewiring to put in an electronic speedo in the dash)?
Your urgent responses are greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your quick response.

My mechanic is doing the work so sorry for being vague. I suspect I do not have ABS, but as I am replacing an old 3S-GE engine, gearbox, exhaust, air intake, wiring harness and computer, with the new (I think 1998 version) kit, I think the mechanic can connect the current (manual) cable to the box, but he is unsure if there is any impact not connecting the electronic speedo connections from the box to the ECU.

Your help is appreciated.

O I C...

I get it... you have a manual speedo cable system and the new setup is electronic or VSS...?
you said he can connect the cable... which i don't get cause if it was a VSS setup there would be no connection on the trans for a cable... just wires going to the ECU and Cluster.

Anyways w/o further info i can't help you fix the problem but wha i can say is...

you will still be able to drive this car safely... just your speedo isn't going to work and it will most likely throw a code that you have low VSS circuit voltage.

Again, thanks for your quick response.

My mechanic says he can replace the electronic output on the box, with the mechanical setup, and thereby connect the cable at that end. His question is whether not connecting the electronics to the ECU will have an impact. Does the Gen3 ECU need or use this electronic input for anything?

Really appreciate your assistance.

why doesn't he keep the electronic output from the new trans and hook that up to the new ECU...?

in that case your only problem is no speedo... so all you need to buy is a 93 speedometer w/ VSS.

if not... your computer won't read VSS signal and throw a code. but you can drive it wi/o damaging anything.

you can't just plug in a newer gauge cluster. you need to rewire the whole front of the car.
