crankshaft question

so i have a nonturbo 5sfe mr2 that the engine finally gave. my buddy is gonna sell me his mr (3sgte turbo model entire car with leather and a few mods, but the car has a few body problems was wrecked twice). the bad, is that it had recently had a flywheel and clutch installed and the flywheel wasnt torqued down properly, so the crank is just screwed. Would it be cheaper to buy a rear clip (around 2500 or so) or to buy this car (which would fix every little problem with my car and upgrade to all leather) for 1000, and rebuild the engine. how much does a crank job usually go for? thanks

if you have money get your 5sfe crank redone and hardend and get that 3sgte board to a 2.2 ltr

im going to either fix the engine in his car (it needs a new crank) and put that engine in my car (since mine has a much better body). OR im going to just buy a half cut and put that in my car. Im just not sure how much a crankshaft job is.

If its a lot cheaper to just get a half cut, then ill do that, but otherwise id like to rebuild his engine and use it as a donor car for mine, so i will have a whole new interior and fix a bunch of minor things like my ebrake, heater, window, and all will get replaced by the new one.

hes sellin the parts car for 1000 bucks. half cuts go for around 2500.

Buy the turbo, cannibalize it for what ever you need . it's worth $1,000.00 just for the engine and all the parts...

It's hard to say without seeing the car, but I can't imagine that it is not worth $1000.

Seeing as you are interested in costs, I would not recommend going
the route mentioned above of using your 5SFE crank in the 3SGTE.

yah im defiantly not using any 5sfe parts, the engine had close to 300k on it. does anyone know how much a crank job is in a 3sgte rebuild? and the best place to get a new crank? i hear that its best to go to the dealership just because they are more reliable? i just want to basically use the parts car for its engine and components to convert mine to a turbo. but i have to rebuild that engine first.
