Won't rev past 4k??

Hello all. I'm new here and I already have questions
I have a 1991 MR2, 2.2L non-turbo, 5-speed. The engine won't rev past 4000RPM. It seems as though it is hitting the rev limiter. I have had the computer, the fuel pressure, and the timing checked... no luck. Help please?

I am posting this for a friend with the car. Well, not posting, but checking the thread. He doesn't have the internet. I'll have to ask him.
I know he had a mechanic chech the pressure from the pump and I think he ran a hand scanner on the computer. I don't know anything beyond that.
Let me get in touch with him and I'll have him reply. I'll tell him about the MAP sensor. Thanks!

i mean from a mechanic's point of view there is like two things that can effect acceleration consistently and both are plain as day and very easy to check. that why i asked cause i figured a mechanic would have checked those first.

TPS
MAP (AFM)

fuel pressure could be another variable, but i'd check the control that calculates it first cause you'd have an idle issue w/i bad fuel pressure

I asked him if he checked the pressure under throttle and at idle, and he said that the mechanic said that he did....so, I don't know. He had different mechanics do the different things. I prefer to have the same guy do all the work on my car (what I don't do on my own, which is 85% of it). I'll have him check the MAP and see what turns up.

yea man... iv been having the same problem with my deuce. when i give it WOT, at 4k it feels like hitting a wall but the engine wont shut off or anything. when i did a check down of everything ( replace plugs and wires, replace a leaking pcv line). I thought it helped cause when i drive the car up the 4k it felt stronger and more smothe but i still have that problem. but then then i tested my MAF sensor and i found that what i believe to be bad. im gonna replace and see what happes.
