Boosted 20v... need turbo recommendations?

I got everything I need pretty much to tear it down and turbo it, but I need to tell the guy who's making the exhaust manifold what turbo I want!

The engine has Arias pistons @ 9.0 compression, custom intake box for the ITB's that holds 28psi, and Megasquirt with EDIS.

What kinda boost can I run on this thing? What turbo would be well suited for the application?

you need to find out your CID (Cubic Inch Displacement)... cause you changed your compression ratio its going to be different from stock.

http://www.csgnetwork.com/cubicinchdispcalc.html

From there you can calculate CFM and from there you can search the internet for compressor maps and plug in you info and it will show you how your motor will respond to each.

you can just guess... but i figure since you have to make a custom manifold your gonna want one that you can maximize its potential. and there are percise ways of finding it out.

if you need help, just post the CID you find out and i'll calculate the rest and input it on a sample compressor map and you can search from there.

cause you don't want it to big to where it doesn't boost right cause it exceeds the surge limit line, or your motor doesn't move enough air to properly boost a big turbo. or comes into efficency too early and runs out at top end... or too late and never reaches its potential cause the motor is too small.

but then you need to decide wha RPM range you want the turbo to start coming into efficiency...

its all possible, but requires a lil research

I would say you can run up to 22psi since thats about the limit of the MS MAP sensor. You can cheat and use a MAF sensor if you want Then you can go much higher but loose a little resolution. This should help you http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/turbotech.html

Basically, calculate the target HP and then look for a turbo where that flow is just a little to the right of the compressor efficency island. Keep in mind also that you can actually determine where the power is made by choosing the right turbo. If you get a turbo that is too big you will have lots of peak power but you wont have any driveability. So look for a turbo that can handle your power goals but is just a little below (on the right of the table) the maximum effecency for your flow and pressure ratio.
