MAF Issues...

Quick question guys, i have a 91 celica w/ a 3sgte swap and when the gas is put to the floor the maf seems to be throwing a code causing the engine to run in limp. I know its the maf cuz i get out and unplug it... plug it back in and the engine runs fine until i attempt to give it some gas again, is there any way i can test this before i go replacing the thing?

I meant my question quite literally ... how are you physically unplugging it?
Are you unscrewing it and popping it off or are you undoing the thin C-clip and popping it off?

If you used the screws, you have damaged the unit.

i am unplugging it where the harness connects, no screws, no c-clips, the unit is a custom setup...air filter, maf, 8" tube, turbo, i am physically unplugging the harness which just clips in...

If it is the stock unit, like the one one the MR2, there should be a thin C-clip that holds the plug in place. If you do not have that clip, maybe your plug is wiggling loose?

What code are you getting?

i am unsure what the code is i have never diagnosed this problem, my c-clip may be missing but i know for a fact that the harness does not disconnect/ come loose, the problem is reacuring at the same point everytime, leading me to believe that the maf has a problem...
