turbo swap

well, the engine is on its way to the shop where my car is to get the swap done, however no intercooler was included in the deal, open to suggestions on side mount?
secondly, they knocked off some money cuz the MAF was bad, any suggestions on that? or should i just order one from a toyota dealership?

berk technology makes a nice cheap sidemount.

you could try rockauto for a replacement MAF

the only thing is if you do go with an intercooler that is typically front mount you should put it in the rear trunk. the piping to do a front mount on our car is retarded and is so long that you loose so much of the cooling aspect over that distance and them a mute point from a cooling side of it. Unfortantly $650 is going to be about what you are going to be paying for a decent sidemount intercooler for our car. along with putting the intercooler in the trunk of the car one of the easiest ways to get the air flow to it is cuting out the bottom. So you can do either the side mount and pay a little. or save a little and lose the trunk!

Berk Tech makes the best side mount intercooler for the price imo. I believe spearco , or maybe another brand not too sure, outperferforms it but is twice the price. The Berk tech is good for over 300hp and comes with new piping, fan, everything you need. If you still think it costs too much, you shouldve been in the 1st group buy like me... Or just go to MR2oc and look at the FS section, may get lucky and catch one for sale, or a Greddy sidemount which is nearly identical in performance.

that one IS a side mount and 1/3 the price.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ayphotohosting

the hks and greddy are both 900-1000. i guess thats not that bad afterall lol. will have to wait though, this was not a planned swap so i dont have the cash. the N/A was scraping by when i recieved it with 160k miles, finally gave out.

You can get a used greddy for $500 or less if you keep your eyes open on MR20c FS section.

only taken forever and a day, but the engine, all the engine goodies transmission, intercooler(sidemount) and MAFs are all at the shop now, said he will try to get it finished this week. sitting a lil over 2700. looking at 15 hours of labor give or take a few. and a custom exhaust is going to be fabricated by a local shop here in phoenix.
im going to need gauges
spedometer
tachometer
coolant temp
petrol - which are all already in the dash, but also going to need?

boost
exhaust temp
oil pressure
oil temp
anything else suggested?

eventually there will be more mods, as i can afford them, lol. not looking to upgrade more power than stock till i take care of a few things like new larger brakes, new suspension pieces etc. righ tnow just looking to get back on the raod, i miss my 2 >< hehe

berk is probably the best kit you can get for the money as it is a complete package... but people have been running ebay intercooler kits without problems and talk highly of them. also, koracing.net sells fan and shroud kits for the ebay kits so i wouldn't think they're that bad if koracing actually made a fan kit for them.

def. berk-tech for the side mount. plus it's black, so it will go well with the n/a badging. I have heard good things about their exhaust too. I even found a video clip

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9abBL...related&search=

sorry, its not related..

i have the exhaust and loved the price/sound but a year later most of the welds are starting to rust. the actual ss is fine though. kinda mad since the exhaust has seen less than 1k miles.

after i get my quote for the exhaust, i might just go with the R1 from koracing, watched the vids i think it looks great and sounds really nice. and with the silencer out sounds really agressive
but back to my other question, should i just get the cheapest gauges i can find? or is there a diff?

I wouldn't go with the cheapest gauge you can find. Autometer is pretty affordable and have a warranty. Defi is my personal favorite, but they are pretty pricey. Apexi, Just find something that fits your budget, but is proven to work.
