What alternator do I need?

I need an alternator for a 91 MR2 turbo. It doesn't have power steering if that matters. Online it lists the alternators and some say with power steering(the 100amp model) and some say without (70amp). Does it matter if I buy the 100 amp model? I dont have access to the car at the moment so what size came stock on it? thanks

Hhmm?. I'm not 100% positive, but I thought all the 2nd gen MR2 T's came with electro-hydrostatic power assist steering.

Honestly I have no idea. I'm a newbie to MR2s and literally just bought this one today for a great price. Just needs a new alternator and it will be perfect. It definitely does not have power steering though.

have you looked in the front compartment under the plastic covering on the passenger side. There may be a unit that takes power steering fluid. if so, you have the power assist. If not, then there's none.

About half to a third of MR2s dont have the power steering option. If you do have it GET the 100amp or higher alternator. Those pumps burn up alternators fast.

If you dont have it, any old alternator that fits will work. Im running a light weight 50amp model on my 2
