so i might get a gen 2 tomorrow. 80k miles, needs some paint, 2.2L manual. I plan on a swap anyway. it runs fine, but it has rust on the side skirts. my question is weather or not those side skirts can be removed?

i would also be hesitant to pick it up if the sideskirts are rusted. i would def check the body for more rust. most of the mk2 mr2 that i have personally seen that show rust in that area are pretty much shot underneath. some rust in rear fender wells isnt as bad. that usually is restricted just to the fender.
how much are you paying if you don't mind me asking? i have a 91 Turbo i'm selling and there is no rust on it what so ever it is right hand drive though its a dark green hardtop let me know if you're interested
i didn't get it. It was missing interior pieces, and I hate looking for interior pieces. I was going to pay $1200. I'm looking for an N/A MK2 with a manual for ~$1000-2000. a turbo model would be fine by me, since I would be doing the swap anyway, but the insurance is 25% higher (right? correct me if I'm wrong).

insurance is higher on a turbo model but remember when the swapped n/a is stolen or crashed, they are going to only give you the money for a n/a model.
You are correct on it being 25% higher then the N/A for insurance but that also depends on the state and the driver as well the worse the record the higher the percentage. I agree with Keck03 if the car is wrecked or anything you are not going to be getting near the money back as what the turbo model will. My buddy had that problem and had to rebuy the car back from the junk yard, just a warning to be careful that is all.
