The 2nd gens came staggered for a reason. I personally would not want to throw off this balance. You gotta figure, you need more rubber in the rear, all the weight and power is distributed there. Now, you can go for a same size setup all around, lots of people have done this, its just I personally like the staggered look and it makes more sense performance wise to me. If you're on the stock 14" rims, I don't believe you would be able to put 205s on the front, they are 6" wide compared to 7" in the rear. Go for aftermarket wheels or at least 93+ 15" rims. Havent heard much about Kumhos, I personally have had good experiences with Yokohama ES100s on my 14" rims, but now ride on Falken FK451s on 5zigen FN01RCs. Hope this helps a little.

for rwd setups....always better to run wider tires in the rears....kuhmo tires are garbage...spend the extra money and i would recommend Toyo T1-s or T1-rs....great in wet and dry...best tires IMO...

^ true, but I dont think the MR2 is a car you wanna be cheap on tires with. That goes with all midship cars imo. Tires make the car, don't be cheap and you'll be safer too.

most respectable performance tires are directional. but then again when you buy performance tires.

longevity isn't your highest concern

plus oversizing tires increases the risk of hydroplaning. yokohama makes excellent tires. Toyos are alse great, and probably better if you're just planning on driving a to b. if you don't like staggered wheels, get a different car.
