For the first time in the car's life... it has felt the icy blanket of snow. I figured since it was April it was OK to pull it out of the vault... but I was wrong.
man, you have one clean first gen. Kudos! I got my del sol out last weekend (it was 70 degrees out), and they day after it dropped to 25, and its still that cold.

3 weeks? I might. I need to do a balljoint BAD... when I corner it feels like I'm on ice for a second and I can move it around by hand!
I also have to figure out why the thing is making near 18v all the time... lol
1 of 2 problems....
1) alternator is bad because the battery was low and was overcharging..... so something in the regulator went out
2) you have a gel cell (which suck ass) and something is wrong with the battery....
I had #2 happen to me.... my alt. in the 87 s/c was overcharging, but not quite that much.... on my drive to a huge annual mr2 meet the car broke down.... the alt was sending voltage spikes through the system and fried my megasquirt....
the gel cell battery was the culprit 100%..... put in a standard battery, fixed the MS and haven't had a problem charging since..... (also had a gel cell die on me recently in the ae92.... got replaced with a standard battery as well)

I have a standard walmart battery at the moment... so it's probably the regulator. I'm running the 20v alternator, not sure if that is the same as the USDM. Can I replace the regulator or do I need to replace the whole thing?
Its because u where doing 90 mph.
To tell u the truth i think my 89 used to be up that high. And i never had any problems with it. My volt meter use to fliker up and down a bit when i put my turn signals on. Does urs do that too.
