Need a little help transmission wise...

I own a 1991 mr2 turbo which i recently swapped in a newer gen3 3sgte engine and tranny. But one day it gets stuck in 3rd...wont come out...sits parked for couple months...magicly comes out drives fine. Later gets worse like its wanting to stick in 3rd...so i avoid it all together (3rd gear) then reverse goes out...later comes right back magicly once again...then the sticky gear moves from 3rd to 4th. So i try avoiding 4th. Then on my way to the trans shop it completly locks up and is fucked because i shifted to 4th then tried going out...and it locked up and wouldnt really go into any gear w/o kicking itselfs out of gear again. So i drug it home with dolleys, and it starts working again but couple days later 3rd and 4th doesnt work...it grinds hard when trying to shift to those gears and it wont actualy go into 3rd or 4th, i let out on the clutch and it kicks it into nuetral while grinding...so all i have is 1st,2nd,5th, and reverse...all working fine....just wondering if anyone know wtf the problem is...Oh and today i just got my oil and gear oil changed (drained and refilled) but problem still exists...also does anyone know if they're anymore transmissions that are compatible to my engine i think a camry tranny might but not sure which...any help is appreciated.

the older gen 2 transmissions seemed to have a few problems with 3rd gear. idk if it was the syncros or what, but Toyota didn't do anything about it until 93. how many miles does the transmission have on it?
