I'm no expert. But

I don't believe GT and GTS are domestic models. Must be JDM-If they exist. The N/A are 2.2 ltr twin cams with I believe 140HP.
The Turbo models are twin cams also with a CT26 Twin Entry Turbo and produce 200HP and 200lbs of torque. The turbo models have much more after market perfomance parts available than the N/A. The JDM turbo model has the CT20b turbo kicking out 245 hp. Not sure about the torque. But like all the JDM's- right hand drive..

In the US, the 3rd gen is the MR2 Spyder. with 140 hp and 125lbs of torque. Fun to drive but grossly under powered for it's looks and styling..IMO
"91 - '95 Turbo is the way to go if you're gonna buy an MR2.
The 1st gen are cool too. There is a suprcharged model. But I am not that familiar with them. But there are some guys on here who know ALOT about them. Hopefully they will chime in.

I believe the GT model is the turbo model and GTS is NA. Personally, I'd love to have either a 98 Turbo or GTS with a Beams. I'm sure they still cost a bit, even in England. If you can get a 94+ with decent miles/Km on it I'd say go for it, its just what you want and can afford. If I was in England I'd be in the market for a Skyline R32 Gtr or an FD Rx7 as well.
