Jekyl Hyde Racing ~ a look into 2007

This year we are going to do things a little different as we are going to try to break into some new venues and trying to race on a slightly different level.
There's even going to be a couple of different drivers this year.

That being said, the '07 schedule is finished. This year we are looking to:

1. Grassroot's Motorsports Ultimate Track Car Challenge w/NASA. Peter Doane will be driving Hyde for this event as my Time Trials license is not recognized for it.

2. Peter will also be piloting Hyde at a NASA event at Pocono Raceway the first weekend of June in order for him to get aquainted with Hyde prior to the GRM event.

3. Redline Time Attack @ Summit Point in September. Either Peter, myself or both of us will be driving. That is yet to be determined.

4. East Coast Timing Association (ECTA) 1-mile Land Speed Race in October. I'll be driving and shooting for 180 mph.

5. Survival of the Imports - Drag racing event at Englishtown, NJ in September. We will most likely hit an open-track drag some time before then.

6. Divisional Solo event (NE SCCA) - A couple of folks on here have been bugging me to do more than a regional autocross. Although autocrossing is not my strength, nor my interest, I am willing to give it a go at this level.

7. NEPA SCCA SM2 and CSP Championships. I'll be piloting Hyde in SM2 and Kevin Tulay (Kupop) will be piloting Jekyl in CSP. We are going to try and grab both championships. We'll be doing 6-8 NEPA events to reach that goal.

You must have a lot of faith in Peter Doane in order to trust him with Hyde..

GL, be sure to post up the results!

lol ... Peter has an extensive racing history.
He's been wheel-2-wheel racing for years.

I find this one to be very interesting. I would love for you and Hyde to hit 180mph...I can only imagine what that would feel like. And I guess it would be a milestone for both Hyde and youself. Not to mention the whole MR2 community.(uh, no pressure )

6. Divisional Solo event (NE SCCA) - A couple of folks on here have been bugging me to do more than a regional autocross. Although autocrossing is not my strength, nor my interest, I am willing to give it a go at this level.
Hey, if you can do it in a snowy parking lot reseting your own cones...why the hell not
Good luck to you and your team in the coming season...r

Actually several MR2s have gone faster in land speed racing.
See here: http://www.mr2ownersclub.com/mr2records/landspeed.htm

I'm confident Hyde could go 180, but I'm not sure he can do it in a standing mile.
Scott Barton on that list of LSR records was running 12.5@110 when he did the 152 LSR.
I am currently running 130 mph in the 1/4-mile so I am already 20 mph on top of his 152.
That puts me at 172 mph (not counting wind resistance) ... so figure I have 3/4-mile to make up 8 mph.

We'll see.

I think you miss understaood my math.

Scott Barton went 152 mph in the 1-mile.
Hyde goes 20 mph faster than Scott's car in the 1/4-mile.

So if I have 20 mph more than Scott in my pocket, I "theoretically" will be at 172 mph at the end of the mile if I "only" keep the 20 mph gain over Scott in the first 1/4-mile.

That being said, I would only need to "make up" 8 mph from Scott's 1-mile time + my 1/4-mile advantage to hit 180 mph.

Again, that does account for wind resistance.
