sure it would.
two reasons.
a bad alternator due to low ouput the ECU can't send an accurate 5v reference signal to the engine's sensors and would throw a light. since its not OBDII its usually not required that a method is used to turn off the light. fix the problem the light goes off. so your issue is intermittent.
second reason if the rectifier bridge or diode trio in the alternator go bad. it will start producing higher levels of AC voltage. ECUs can't read AC voltage and those piece are wha convert AC to DC. if they are not converting the ECU starts recieving AC voltage and can't compute so it starts acting all fucking goofy and shit.
have the alternator tested. stay away from autozone. go to somewhere where technicians are actually employed (pepboys) and have them do it. it won't be free but atleast it will be done right.
