Newbie Questions

Hi All,

Sorry for hte newbie questions but I just bought my MR2 3 days ago (second hand) and I just need to ask a few questions and hope ya can help me out.

1. it's has almost 62,000 km on the clock, so I know I need to change the Timing belt soon as I read they are prone to go at around hte 60,000 mark. I won't be able to afford the change for another month so has anyone gone over the 60,000 mark without it snapping, if so how far, and how can I drive it to prevent it from happening any sooner.

2. I bought hte car second hand and it didn't have a manual with it! ARG! it has standard wheels and tires on it, what is hte air pressure for these tires?

Any help would be much appreciated, and sorry for hte mundane Q's.

Thanks in Advance!

Carl.

First of all, welcome to TN..
2nd...what size tires will determine pressure..but prolly 28-32psi front/rear repsectively
3rd...Turbo or N/A?
4th.. on the 1st page of this MR2 Forum is a sticky containing a complete on line manual for our cars.
5th..as far as timing belt, I believe manufacturer recommends changing it at 75k miles. Tho I have seen them go much farther. But I do recommend you change it as soon as you can.I know the turbo model is an interference motor. As for the N/A, I'm not sure, But I think it's an interference motor also.

Agree, 75k or ASAP.Just drive it easy and keep it out of the upper RPM range if you can and do not buy a cheap belt.Buy the best one you can find (Greddy makes a good one)mine is OE Toyota and was changed at 16,800 as my car sat for 4 years. But I have heard good feedback on the GReddy belt.Best of luck....If anyone has heard different please let me know!!!!
