Canada Which engine does this mr2 have?

Hi all,

I was thinking of buying an N/A 91 MR2 thats RHD (Japan import) for 7000. When i asked the guy, he said it had a 3S-FE engine. When i asked about the power output he told me it was near 200 hp. When researching (wiki) i was under the impression that the Gen II models from japan were fitted with a 3S-GE engine and also thought the 3S-FE model has much less hp than 200.

I havent found much info on japanese NAs, could someone help clarify? Also, condition was decent (no rust) and it was at 70k mileage (tampered? not sure), is it worth the 7k? Thanks

I personally don't trust some of the rhd imports, but a few of them are legit. As for the MR2 i'm almost 100% sure it's a 3s ge they came with n/a, if it's a swapped n/a car then it's more than likely not a 3s fe. 3s fe is under 200hp and depending upon the generation of 3sge it can have over 200hp (Beams). It's up to you if you think it's worth it or not. Hope this helped, good luck.

thanks! The loss of your supra has made me start looking for alternatives in the MR2 world. Really sucks that it was totalled... Has the insurance company gotten back to you?

The company is called B&R imports which is located in Scarborough, ON. Has anyone dealt with this company before?

I saw one of their Skylines before and it looked like the odo had been tampered with (numbers werent aligned properly?)

no word from insurance yet, but i have spoken to a lawyer. I was also considering a 90's mr2 but i think for now i'll just stick with my celica. Alot of the skylines i've seen look to be tampered with, pretty much the main reason why i don't trust the whole idea. My suggestion would be to find a canadian or american lhd mr2 turbo.

3SGE... they range from like 150hp to 180hp depending on the year and model (I think).

akn112:

What are you looking for in the 7M. We have several to choose from here at the shop. I guess shipping would be the expensive part.
