New White 91 Turbo :D - Lotsa Pictures

k guys...
just put a deposit down on a t-top, white '91 turbo. its gorgeous. literally, no rock chips, scratches, dents, or anything, anywhere - the paint looks like milk. and!! it has 18,400 miles. shhhhh... dont tell anyone.

anyway, i'm picking up the sexy beast on friday.

i've seen a number of you posting around here, knowing a lot about these things, and since I sold my last MR2 (naturally aspirated '88) several years ago in high school, i'll need some expert opinions/advice. never owned or studied much on the MKII.

so, pulled straight from the ad:

--------------------------------------------------------------
the car has the following upgrades:

HKS Exhaust
K&N Filtercharger
HKS Twin Spark Ignition
Upgraded Computer (sent to Jet)
Greddy Boost Controller
HKS Blow-Off Valve
T.R.D. suspension upgrade - includes: springs, swaybars, Struts - Bilstein
17” rims with 235-ZR-17 rears, 215-ZR-17 fronts
--------------------------------------------------------------

this past saturday i went to see it /drive it...
it looks significantly lower than stock, so i'll assume he meant lowering springs. and the rims are split 5-spoke. overall, the car is perffffffffect. i just have a few curiosities.

first of all, getting the computer updated by Jet means what, exactly? more hp? better fuel efficiency? i didn't find much information on the Jet computer upgrade.

the boost controller is set to 7psi, and the seller suggested I don't mess with it.
he also took the BOV off because he said it made a wretched sound... probably somewhat like the few i heard on youtube... not cool. but there's a stock wastegate in there right? so the turbo fan is safe. correct me if im wrong.

I can't think of any other questions, but someone who knows a lot about the MKII, please fill me in so I can continue learning. thankss guys. expect high-res pictures this weekend.

the BEST amount of dollars

uhm, i'll tell you if you tell me what the Jet upgrade does, and where the boost controller should be set to, and if i should bother with the BOV.

take a guess at the price

hard to say what the ECU upgrade could be...most likely different fuel maps...you can run 16psi on stock turbo as long as you have some sort of fuel cut defender (stock fuel cut is 12psi) and/or upgraded IC...BOV is all personal preference...i love my HKS super sequential while others will tell you that stock is best....

i couldn't guess price..not familiar with US market.....a car like that with low clicks n minor mods...would go for 18-20g CAD here....

19000 CND comes to 17730 USD.
i didn't pay that much. in fact, i paid over 3000 less

so stock fuel cut is 12psi... that means i can put it up to 10psi with no problems?

i know BOV is perspref, i just wanted the opinions of others. i guess i'll throw it on and see what happens - can't be too hard to install i'd imagine.

i'll have a lot more details after i get the car, and pretty much all the original parts. the stock rims and tires, springs, computer, and basically brand new exhaust. im essited.

well, it would have a stock wastegate i think.
purpose of a BOV is to make a cooler sound, but accomplish the same task - release back pressure.
hopefully im not wrong, but that's my understanding

if its an internal wastegate its stock... if its external... well you can tell if its stock or not. (ie: blue, red, pink... whatever floats your boat)

Why was it tuned down to 7psi? I would be wondering about that. 18,000 miles on a 16 year old car ? I would be wondering about that too ? But congrats ! I hope it works out for you.! waitin' on the pics !!!

if the body is perfect, no rock chips even, then either the car saw daylight once every three years, or it was wrecked. toss me the VIN and i will see if carfax turns up anything.
grats on your new car.

friday or saturday my friend... i know, i can't wait either.

hey, anyone in the north jersey, hudson valley/west point, NY area?
im staying in jersey right now with my cousin, but i used to live up in NY by some awesome windy roads along the hudson/bear mountain bridge area (218, 9W, 202)
always fun to head up there with a couple buddies and attack the turns

i'd love to meet up with some fellow mr2 owners, mkI or mkII

day 1, after picking it up from connecticut and bringing it back to ny.
(that scion in the background is very much for sale, if anyone wants it)

i believe today was the first time this car saw rain. the two previous owners were afraid of clouds,
so the underside of this car looks newer than my 2005 xB, which is for sale
