Hey everyone. I just bought a 1992 Toyota MR2 n/a. As the listing read, it said that the car was a manual, and further down, in the description, it also said " 5-speed manual transmission." I figured it would be redundant to ask the seller if the car was a manual. so, after I drove for 12 hours straight to get to it, I noticed that it was, in fact, an automatic. I purchased the car anyway, $2700, 187000 miles, leather interior, decent body, needs suspension/brakes, some wiring stuff. anyway, my questions are below the pictures.
I want to change the car to a manual, as I am planning on a gen 3 turbo swap (rear clip) within the next month, and I will do the manual conversion at the same time. I need to know how to do the conversion, where to route the cables, where the master cylindar goes, and where to get the parts.
other than that, does anyone have a stock set of springs/shocks laying around with decent miles from a swap to a better suspension? I need some new(ish) ones. also, what do I need in order to run turbo model brake discs? I am planning on changing them tomorrow.

Hey I believe that i have the stock springs from my 93 NA in my garage i just have to double check if i have the struts. if i have both what is your price range and if i just have the shocks then what do you want to pay? as for going to the turbo model rear brakes since you are doing the rear clip of a gen three it should come with the axel and hubs and that is all you need to change the discs. The NA and turbo have the same rotors but the turbos are a little bit bigger. as for hte manual switch over.... sorry cant help you there but looks like a load of fun you got ahead of you. Get some pics up of the process Good luck.
hey thanks. will the springs and shocks from a 93 fit a 92? I know they re-did the suspension in 93 so it was safer to drive (the 92 is really fun on dirt roads), my price depends on how many miles your suspension has on it I guess.. I would probably pay $3-400 shipped depending on condition and miles. I think I will actually start a new thread for the manual conversion.

i did a little bit of research and hte spring rates are totally different and yeah like you said they did change the suspension from 92 to 93 the main thing was that the suspension was dropped back about 3in" but after looking at everthing you should be fine going with a 93 spring. the springs have 110k on them so it isnt alot or a little. let me know

if you're going to spend 400 on stock springs/struts, you might as well as spend a little extra and get aftermarket springs and struts.

hate to say that is a bit higher than I was hoping for. I was looking for like 50k miles. Yea, I might get aftermarket ones, but I don't want it to ride much rougher. I'll let you know if I need your susp. shocks are more important to me than springs, because I think my front drivers side one is blown.

yeha i figured that is what was going to be the case and like onehotcamry said you are going to be better off getting after market springs and struts. It isnt going to ride alot rougher. all you have to do is find the spring rate of the stock springs and get close with after market ones and you wont lose your ride quality. I have KYB AGX struts and Eibach Pro kit on my car and i love it. Yeah dont worry about i would say for he money just get he aftermarket. I agree the struts are a little bore important if that is the case. good luck
I finally put my car up on my lift. the passenger side one is fine, but I can physically move the driver's side shock sideways 1" in the middle. the rubber guard is gone too. I think I will get some kyb's, thanks man. I was actually wondering how they road, I've never talked to anyone with them. how low is your car?

they rid greaat i like them. the thing that is nice is that with the KYB AGX adustable struts is that you can make the strut more stiff for the highway or more soft for hte street. I liek the way that my car ride it has a little more of a sport feel to it now. well with the kyb struts and the Eibach prokit the car rides at a good hight you can tell that it is lowered but i am not rubbing on speed bumps or anything the front edge of the lip clears the curbs in parking lots and i bet that you would be a little better off then i too becuase with the 18s in the back it angles the front down a little more. but yeah i love them and they arent insanly expensive.
yea price is decent. did you get a camber kit? I found a complete strut/ shock for the driver side for like $40, so I'm getting that so I can still afford the swap, but later I plan to upgrade.

No i didnt get the camber kit i didnt need it but if you can afford it i would say get it for the front that is all you are going to need it for if at all. Yeah i am eventually going to be getting a coilover setup but this isnt a bad setup until then. goodluck with the swap and everyhting else post some pics once its started
ok. I'll post pics soon, I'm starting to get parts, I have a TRD short shifter, TRD shift knob, master cylinder, clutch lines, front strut, brake pedal from a manual MR2, clutch pedal, fuel pump, etc... I just need a few more parts for the manual conversion and then the rear clip. I'm sooooo close too, one more paycheck should do it. after I get the rear clip I'll start a new thread.
