2nd Generation Shaving badges

I was looking at doing some small little changes to the outside of the car. I want to shave the toyota off the back trunk and the actual toyota symbol. anbody know how to do this? I think they are just "glued" on but i bet there is a "proper" way of taking them off. Thanks.

I removed mine. The Toyota symbol is glued and has 2 dowels that go thru holes in the metal. The Words-Turbo and Toyota were just glued. They make a emblem adhesive remover. You can get it at WalMart. It helps in the removal. You just have to use some of that and pry it off carefully. Use something soft-not metal- that won't damage the paint. Like something plastic or wood.

Dental floss or fishing line works well for getting behind the "Toyota" and the "turbo" to slice them off without hurting the paint.

The symobl is more of a pain because it actually goes through the body, so you will have 2 holes there that need to be addressed.

I've always removed the badges off of my cars as I don't like writing and logos all over them.

Yes, that is ironic since Hyde is covered, but that is a different story.
I genuinely prefer a clean look.

i agree. i like turning heads in a much cheaper, more reliable car too.
and the waxing/cleaning thing is a good point.
i dunno, i just never got into debadging... i think it looks too bare on most cars.
take a pic when ur done, i'd like to see it.

and hyde, i dont usually like decals, but i think yours is done perfectly.
kinda like makeup... i hate it, but if its overdone and done well, sometimes its neat.

he was pretty nice the only reason that i am actually getting the bodykit is becuse his insurance is paying for the repairs and all and it was actually cheaper for me to get a full urethane bodykit for the car then it was for the front bumper and lower trim piece!! so insurance said if that is what you want to do! i got his phone number if you want to give him a call !!!
