dealers forgot oil cap

i brought my car into the dealer for an simple oil change. and the a week later i open the engine cause i trusted them. i discovered dat they forgot to put the oil filler cap back, and oil spayed all over the engine bay. so i rush to auto part store and buy 1 + some oil
my question is, wat could hurt the engine without the cap? if i bring the car back to em, wat they gonna do? do they clean the engine? or just let the matter rolls. i only been driving 100 miles.
thanks

You would lose oil(obviously with the mess) and pressure might get low.
How much oil did you loose?
Just be glad you didn't run out and your engine seize up.
I take it ,it's still running, so you should be OK. Just fill it back to correct level. Then bitch out the dealer. I don't know that they will do anything..

yeah the pressure mightn ot have been there and you might have gotten some wear on parts as well and be glad to that the motor didnt sieze up that would have been a new motor that they wouel have biught you but a ton of a hassle as well. I would go back Like MR2Bad said and rip them a new one the only thing is because it was a week later they may try to say that it now isnt there fault and that you could have done it. i dont think they will but you never know.

You only lost 1/2 a qt.! Then the cap must have come off recently or you would have lost alot more. Musta been loose, then vibrated off. Tell them what happened and try and get them to steam clean. But i wouldn't count on it. It's been too long since you had the service from them..
