1991-1992 rear-end breakaway?

Hi I am interested in buying an MR2 second generation, and I was reading on topspeed.com that the 1991 and 1992 models have problems with the rear-end braking away when the car corners hard. Is this a major problem? Or is it very minor? Thanks!

Just learn to drive it and youll be fine. I have it break away rearly. I take corners really well but its trying to high it hard around the turn that it likes to break away.

The MR2 handles great! It's up to the driver to "learn" how to drive such a balanced machined and to know how far he can push the envelope before the backend breaks loose. But isn't that the same with any car?

from some of the reviews that I've read from some of the more experienced drivers, they preferred the older (91-92) suspension because they felt it handled better, but took more experience to drive. I just got a 92 mr2, and I love it. I have only been able to get the rear end to break loose on dirt and in heavy rain. it is surprisingly easy to control when sideways on dirt. I haven't been able to get the rear end loose on dry tar yet, I have the automatic transmission (for a few more days anyway).

the first snow i got after buying my mr-2 i took it out to see how it was and to learn to control it if sliding happened and i learned one major thing. you see these drift cars sliding around at 35-40 or more degrees you cant do that because of the significant percentage of weight in the rear if you do slide get it in control before you hit 15* or you will be seeing the opposite side of the road but as long as you feather the throttle and dont jerk the wheel around you are fine its all about being smooth with the car and practicing. learn your car thats all that can be said. otherwise they handle like a dream
