Hey all, I am getting my mr2 swapped with a jdm 2nd gen motor complete with turbo, intercooler, fuel pump, harness, and ecu, it will also will be fitted with custom 3" downpipe, apexi N1 exhaust, greddy profec b spec II bc.. i assume at this point that at 12 psi (from what i read that is the max boost i can use without cutting a vacuum line to disable the boost/fuel cut right??) Soo, from what i've been reading i should be somewhere near 200 rwhp when I pick the car up. I was wondering what your suggestions are for reaching a RELIABLE 260-300 rwhp daily driver.

There are several things you can do to make that better. First thing I would to is get some gauges like oil pressure, af ratio gauge, water temp. Next I would buy a after market ecu like a aem ems my personal choice, plug in play use everything do just about everything. Also get little bigger injectors, a fuel rail, fpr. Then interals can take little more boost so your okay. You could buy intake and exhuast, got to breathe to make more horsepower. Get a t3/t4 turbo, different cams. With this setup you can create more horsepower than what you ask for.

^ read the link Jeff posted for you. For little $$$ you can get to 280hp. After that you will need a stronger clutch.
The stock internals are good to 400hp. Jeff's MR2-Hyde- is living proof of that.
The T3/T4 will easily get you the HP you're looking for with fuel enhancements(fpr, fuel pump, larger injectors) and the stock cams. You will need some type of engine management.
For the goal you are looking for I would seriously consider a ATS turbo kit. The TD05 (what I have) or the TD06 would easily put you around your goal safely.
here's my mod list
ATS TD05 20g Turbo Kit
ATS 550cc rom tune
ATS modified fule rail
Walbro 255hp fuel pump
170 degree thermostat
550cc fuel injectors
Apexi GT Spec Exhaust
Apexi intake
Greddy TT
Greddy Profec B (not hooked up)
Spec Stage II clutch
Fidanza Flywheel
ATS Racing Throttle Body Inlet
Eagle Rods
ARP Rod Bolts
JE Pistons (.20 over)
the kit ATS offers comes with the majority of that stuff. www.atsracing.net

I had asked you for the dynograph not seeing it in the very 1st line of your post. Duh ! Anyway, I deleted it.
Impressive numbers. Especially for 10 psi... I'm thinking of going that route on my rebuild. I have heard nothing but good things about ATS. And they know MR2's very well. And I believe them to be trustworthy and honorable company.
yea, I was just saying its not hard to get power out of the gen 3, its like a gen 2 with a turbo kit from toyota. I have a gen 3 clip on the way . how is your build going?

It's going...Time and money are the only hold ups. I work full time and money has been scarce the past year. I'm prolly gonna get rid of the Spyder. It's getting to be a pain keeping up with 3 vehicles. Insurance, gas, maintainance and all. I don't drive it that much. I use my Tacoma alot.
gen 3s are a waste of money if you're thinking of seriously modifying your mr2
its newer technology. a better IM, turbo, injectors, etc. yes, I know if I am shooting for over 350 whp its a waste of money since I'm going to be replacing all of that anyway. I dont care. the difference is that I'll have that much power now. This is about all the money I can afford to spend on this car for the next 3 or 4 years, so I wouldn't have been able to really rip into a gen 2 to get it to where I'm going. I only want 300 whp right now. If I want more later, I'll just sell all the gen 3 stuff. that, and almost every single person I've talked to, or read posts by that has done the gen 2 swap wishes they would have waited and saved for the gen 3. it is far easier to get to 300 hp, and if I have more power I would start breaking things and just getting into crashes or trouble. that and the gen 2 is inferior in every way (if only slightly), so I just didn't see the point.
