Spark plug for 3sgte

I forgot which NGK plug most people suggest to run in the 2nd gen 3sgte. Also what gap should I run? Thanks for the help.

BK6E or BKR6E (resistor type if needed)Stock #6962
Gap depends on Turbo boost. .030 is standard

if you are running higher than stock boost

run bkr7e (1 step colder) and gap it closer. my car seems to like .028. any larger and i get some stumbling.

The Iridium plugs have a tiny tip. I have heard that thay may melt off at higher boost levels. I didn't want to take the chance. So I pulled them . I use either the NGK coppers or Platinum. Way cheaper too.

i also pay the $1 for the anti-seize and $1 for the other grease. i know its prob not necessary but piece of mind is worth $2. i had to take out stuck plugs once and it was scary.

I have used the iridiums and havent had a problem. Then again i am running 18psi and not a high amount of boost like is said to burn the tip off. As well though if they burn the tip off the plugs do come with a one or 3 year warentee with them so if it ever did happen then they just replace them anyways. I will have to check out the NGKs like you guys say though and see how it runs

If the tip of the Iridium plug melts off, new plug replacement will be the least of your problems. The metal can melt a hole thru the piston and you will prolly need major engine work.

lol yeah that is a good call totally slipped my mind! i think a whole in the piston would be a little bit more of a problem then replacing the spark plugs i will check out those other plugs.

The NGK coppers are good. Especially for the price. But they have to be changed about 3600 miles. usually with the oil change.

+1

i prob even change them sooner since i swap for each trip to the dyno or dragstrip. i also like the fact that the plugs give me an idea of how the car is running on a more regular basis.
