2nd Generation soon to be the owner of an MR2

hopefully as soon as i sell my other car i can fuel that money into buying an MR2; was looking on autotrader and liked some of the findings! are there any other good sites on the net wen lookin for used cars that have given u guys luck?

i do have a few questions and hoepfully they havent been asnwered yet

How much HP can i expect off a stock turbo 3sgte mr2? -gen2

How much boost can the stock turbo put out and 3sgte handle? -gen2

Ive never been in an mr2 so i was wondering how roomy it is even tho its a 2seater

If the car is mid-engined, whats in the front hood?

Can you burnout real good?

Dual or Single exhaust for more performance gain?

Any other immediate suggestions when i first get the car besides the usual?

200/HP@fly.

200ft lb/Torque.

160hp@wheels.

Stock turbo(CT26)= 15psi(safely) w/boost controller and fuel cut ilimination

How much boost can the stock block handle? depends on tuning.

A 6 ft person can fit.

Front hood(frunk) Spare tire, battery, clutch, brake reservoirs, electrohydrostatic power asst steering unit.

Burnouts? sure

Again tuning and preference..I prefer the twin muffler or dual exit muffler..

Before making any mods, make sure all is well with engine, coolong system, brakes and suspension.

Read this.Lots of good info to get you to 280hp easy and inexpensively.

Nothing. A small space where you can store your T-Tops. There is a small compartment behind the passenger seat on the floor. You might could store a dozen CD's in there.
The Spyders have 2 compartments-1 behind each seat, that can hold an overnight bag.

Not only can a 6 foot person fit, but with about as much room as my Integra. Im 6'1 270lbs and built like a jukebox, yet I fit rather well in it. I actually have more headroom (could be more than an inch max) than I had in my Legend coupe.

Redline is 7000. The stock CT26 turbo seems to "run out of breath" @5500rpms. Tho the car will still increase in speed.

Small turbo. it reaches it's peak efficiency at that point. the turbine becomes a restriction and cannot expell the exhaust gases fast and efficiently enough. the Compressor side is overworked and the air it is compressing is too hot.
A bigger turbo is needed to surpass this choke point..

Yeah a t/3t4 is a very common sub for the ct26 swap. but remember to that with it being a little bit bigger of a turbo you are going to have the little bit slower of a spool time. with the t3/t4 that i have it isnt a great noticable difference but the good part is that it doesnt run out of breath like the ct26 does.

Now if you want to spend the big bucks the turbo that i suggest is the GT35R aka the potato its a full ball bearing turbo that has a really fast spool and its air and exhaust compressor wheels are sized perfectly for the power through out the full rpm range. The only bummer is that the turbo is about $3500.

I like my t3/t4 turbonetics turbo that i have its great a pull to it and i really havnt noticed it running out of breath at all. I am very happy with it.

The front has the battery, a/c, power steering, and coolant instruments all hidden. KO Racing has the t3/t4 streetbrawler set up. ATSRacing has many turbo set ups as well, including the super popular TD06 external wastegate set up, all while you can get tuned ECU's from them! Great if you have difficult time tuning stand alone management. You can also get tuned ecu's for the stock ct26 and really bring out the power however you have your boost set!

Best regards,
Tsu

i thought the disco potato was the gt28rs?

for the op, the gt28rs isnt that popular upgrade. most look at the t3/t4 or td05/06. they are now making gt30 kits for around $2100. all three of these kits can easily surpass the stock fueling system so keep that in mind.

the gt35r is the turbo i can only dream of.
