I'm not local so I probably can't help.
But usually a used MR2 turbo ECU will cost you $100 or LESS.

i hear you on the four months of brokenness, im going through a similar problem, but you should nto take it out on the car, mostly cuz your not even sure whats wrong yet. im not a mechanic but its worth the diag. fee to find out whats wrong so you dont buy parts you dont need.

What's wrong with it?
Is this stock MR2 turbo or swap?
Does it throw any error code?
You need 3 things, air, fuel and spark.
Try eliminating each of these from the question.

umm the entire motor was race fully built.. bored .20 over JE pistons. Gen 2 longblock.. head was RACE Spec.. ported cut polished etc... well just figured out the reason theres no fuel and no spark.. haha funny actually. busted the camshaft in 2 to a 2 piece.. lol distributor side.. is now a 2piece camshaft.. right after teh first 3 lobes.. snap.. crack.. big problem now we must remove the head and check to see if our pistons are scarred.. hopefully not.. just praying that the pistons are fine. cause thats more problems then we need. i guess @ 19psi boost the gremlins for camshafts start to play.. yes it threw an error code for no spark . i dont rememebr the number.. now has spark bought a new ecu.. adn its getting spark i should know i got the sh9t shocked out of my finger today.. lol was good times though alittle electricution never hurt anyone.
