Is there anything that removes the black sealant on the oil pan?
( besides scraping) ...Maybe a chemical solvent/tool?
what a pain...

Try laquer thinner, and if that doesnt work aircraft stripper WILL, just dont get it on your skin or gloves.

Use a razor blade to remove as much as you can. Use a petroleum-based product (whatever you have on hand) to loosen up the rest so you can wipe it off.

OK, Thanks guys... I have scraped 90% of it off already. it's just those tiny bits here and there that are a pain..

Try something like Scotchbright and a mild solvent.

I use a wire wheel, takes like 2 mins. and removes every last one of em. I have no patience w/ a scraper/razor blade/gasket remover spray combo.

^ I considered using one with my drill, but I was afraid of scratching up the surface too bad. But I think thats what I'm gonna do. That would be much faster !
