2nd Generation Timing Belt

I have found a 91 MKII Turbo I would like to buy.

The 1 and only owner claims that it has not been wrenched on.
It still has the Original plugs, wires, and ...timing belt.

The car has right at 100,000 miles on it.
Is the 3sgte belt made stronger, 100,000 miles no problem?

My only concern is it lasting another 500 miles for me to drive it home.

Gates belt states 60K miles when seeing severe service. On most cars belts can last much longer 120K is not uncommon, they don’t just break at a specific mileage. If the engine is a 5SFE it is non-interference, thus if the belt breaks no engine damage will occur.

Suggest when driving the car home to not race the car, gun the engine, etc as this will increase the loads on the belt. Once home, get the parts together and change the belt and what else it needs at that time.

Toyota recommends changing the belt at 75K miles. But like toyomoho stated, they can go much longer. Mine was supposedly changed at 125k, but during my rebuild I found that the original one was still in place at 154K miles. It had a lot of tiny cracks in it, but still in tact.
The 3sgte engine IS an interference motor. So take it easy on your drive home.
The OEM belt is good for 350hp.
