find a good alternator shop, and they should be able to rebuild yours for about $100. I just recently had mine rebuilt. I paid $160 though, becuase I wanted it upgraded to put out more amperage.

I got mine from Checker/Kragen parts store. I think I got mine for less than $150 & they if you turn the core in, you'll get some $$ back.

Oh yeah...the ones they sell are remanned. You can buy a repair kit for less than $30 bucks...but the ? is, is it repairable?

Good luck! BTW...It's a pain to change...

Aldrin, get that one rebuilt, its way cheaper. But if you do decide to get one from another 5SFE, it will fit. I'm running a Camry alt on my Celi, the only diff is the position of the alt wire, which will reach.

Aren't you the guy with the grey WBK in T.O.?
If that's you ... sweet... there's at least one with the WBK.

supercarman - Wide Body Help
ok, i have the widebody kit installed on my 91 for test fitment. my problem is the bodyshop won't continue work till they can get the gas cap cover to work with the kit.

can someone post pics of the gas cap area of the widebody mr2, looking for shots with the cap closed, cap open, some shots of the hinges and the other hardware involved.

the main problem is the hinges, i went to home depot looking for hinges and found a couple that would've worked with custom fabrication, which makes the gas cap open by flipping up. but the shop wants to make so it opened up like the stock one.

any help would be great, cause i need to get the car out by mid-april, but if we cant figure out the gas cap problem then it won't be out by then.
