Hey guy im looking to buy a PWR aluminum radiator wanted to get you guyz thoughts on the product and do you think the old fans will go back onto it the way the pit on the stock radiator? also what is a auto trans cooler? some facts bout my car is that it is a 1992 toyota MR2 2.2 non-turbo t-tops 5-speed hopes that helps and can't wait to hear from you guy thank you ^_^
Good question.^
The stock radiator can handle any hp/ mod to the engine..
Do you have an automatic transmission? I thought you stated you had a 5 speed.
An auto trans cooler is just that - it cools the trans fluid in a automatic transmission.
I don't know if the N/A and Turbo's share the same radiator. I would guess yes, but thats only a guess. maybe one of the others know.
Of all the swaps I know of, no one has mentioned changing radiators which leads me to believe, they used the stock N/A one.
i have to change out mines because the old one's is slighty rusted accross the toop and the fins a flaking off to the touch ,it's the original stock radiator so i think it may be time for a new one buy now
crap 1 more thing i was doing the coolant drain and was able to find the draining plug on the radiator and the 2 draining bolt's under the car but the one that has my stomped is the engine drain plag wanted to know if anyone has a picture of that cause the toyota manual drawing is good but would really love to see it in a actual picture and also does that part really need to be drained since all the coolant came out of the other plugs ? thank you again and can't wait for those pics ^_^
only one problem im doing the install myself and wanna get the offical toyota coolant added in ^_^ if added new coolant and then drove it to have it flushed it will not cause any damage will it? and how much does toyota use charge for a flush?
No, no damage.. Toyota charges $70+ for coolant change. It's very time consuming because of all the long piping from front to back . I do it myself. Use distilled water so there will not be any minerals in the cooling system along with the coolant. 50/50 is good. (Toyota will prolly not use distilled water.)
You don't realy need to go with aluminum radiator. But if you want the best for your car and have the funds, great.
can either get rad rebuilt with dual core rather than spend the money on an aluminum rad.
I run 65/35 (water/toyota coolant) Car never comes close to overheating. Mr2's don't have much cooling problems when your cooling system is functional.
dose or can anyone take a picture of the engine drain plug please i would really like to know where it is the diagram in the book is just so helpful i need to see a cold hard picture of the exact location if possiable that you very much ^_^
Not easy to get a picture of it, as it is located on the passenger side of the radiator. on the inside corner . Can't miss it. it's a big plastic wingnut.
