Info engine swaps cost

Hey guys wats up. I was just wondering if anyone can give me an estimate of how much it will cost me to swap my 5sfe to a 3sgte, just the labor to put it on, and also if anyone knows a shop close to L.A area. thats reliable and that can do it? My car is a '91 MR2. I would appreciate it thanks.

JUST labor? well depending on the shop your looking around 80$USD/hour. and to replace a 3sgte in a turbo is book time of 14 hours. your going to be doing that plus adding a few things, having to replace the rear axles too, and new ecu and get the wires through the firewall, new fuel pump, mount new exhaust, your looking closer to 20. thats if you even have all the parts, including all the hiddon costs and things you dont think about.
Im at 1200 and still waiting on axles, but im getting wholesale rates through my work

if your deciding to buy turbo or a N/A and do a swap, buy a turbo. it will cost about as much to do a swap as if you just bought one in the first place. plus the cost of the N/A. If you already have an N/A or got a good deal on one, plan one spending close to 5k less you do your own labor

I mean to buy a turbo mr2 when i say turbo sorry lol
since you already have the mr2, there are many options to go. what do you plan on doing with it? drag? autocross? track? will you also be using this as your daily driver? ie street legal concerns, noise levels, etc.. this will help in deciding engine choice and set up.

the other concerns are budget. there are a plethera of parts and addons for the mr2turbo ie the 3s. making availability of parts good and prices lower. the 5s, 3.0v6 and the 3.2v6 swaps will require custom fabrication, parts, fittings etc etc. also longer times in the shop and not on the road if this will be your daily driver.

the bottom line is its your car. if you want a specific part, or brand, colour, bodykit ect ect then its your choice. the only concerns would be well, if its unreliable or will cause problems(like customer reviews), counter productive to what you will be using it for(like if you wanted a drag only set up), then there is unpractical or advice against, people will usually say why they recomend against something.

like i said, done "properly" the engine is still an iron block and from what i understand the crank is a monster argue for or against is like . I thought about it, going turbo on my 5s in my 1994 celica. ended up trading it to a guy for my mr2
