3SG(T)E HP numbers?

Anybody know approximately how much horsepower a genII turbo would make without a turbo on it? Essentially a 3sgte sans turbo.

well, it depends, cuz they lower the compression ratio when adding a turbo. which means take the turbo off but leave the CR the same it will produce less.
so are you asking how much a 3sge makes? or how much a 3sgte makes if you rip off the turbo?

"Essentially a 3sgte sans turbo." FYI sans means without.

a 3sgte is built for a turbo.... so it would probably put down horrible numbers because of the low compression. A 3sge from the factory puts down anywhere from 140-200hp depending on what kind you get. If you want to go NA.... skip the nonsense and throw a V6 in there..... much easier than trying to source and wire in a 3sge.

I'm actually trying to figure out how much power the turbo adds, and in order to do that I need to know how much power the motor makes without the turbo, thereby calculating hp per psi. Remember, I'm researching =D

There is really no possible way to calculate that. On a stock turbo.... it averages ~10whp per 1lb of boost.... if that help any. If you took the turbo away the engine would have horrible power output due to the low compression.

So if you upped the psi from stock to 14 you would gain 50whp? I really doubt that. Maybe 1 psi is equal to 5-10 bhp?

i once drove my friend's 91T from Topeka, KS, to Omaha, NE with the turbo bypassed. a nut had gone through the turbo while i was driving it on the road course and destroyed the compressor wheel. we were unable to get a trailer to pull it home, so we used duct tape along with rerouted i/c piping to convert it to n/a. cruised just fine at 75mph. my guess would be about 100hp.

here is a link (pictures) to what we did: http://carpron.com/multisite/v/Uploa...m180/album188/

Well.... stock boost pressure can be up to 12psi.... so.... no. Most people dyno'ing on stock turbo's with basic mods estimate ~10whp per pound of boost.

So does anybody know how much changing stock psi to 13-14 would affect hp numbers? Maybe thats an easier question (and more logical as well)

http://www.mrcontrols.com/primers/power.htm

a lot of reading, but a lot of facts and information is there. the amount of power gained from boost varies so much depending on all the factors so its hard to pinpoint exact numbers without haveing a bone stock car to throw on a dyno and tape off the turbo. in the basics sections it talks about bumping up the horse power with very basic mods and upping the boost yeilds about 10whp like ishcoleobo said. keep in mind your turbo's effective range, and other mods on the car

Im just trying to plan out what I want to do with the car before I get it so that I dont waste money on mods that I will end up changing anyway. Of course I'm aiming for turbo upgrades, but that would be at least a year down the road. So far Im aimed at:

Apexi EBC
Berk Exhaust
eBay SMIC with piping and SPAL fan
Berk DP
Stillen cone filter
Gram Light 16x7 front 17x7.5 rears
Tein coilover setup yet to be determined.

That should suffice me for quite some time seeing as how my bone stock Integra did for two years.

I wouldn't waste your $ on a eBay SMIC... just spend a bit extra and get the Berk. eBay piping is crap.... doesn't even come close to fitting. I dunno about the Stillen air filter.... but I don't see it doing any harm.

If you every plan to go over 350whp you will likely be ditching the intercooler and downpipe..... exhaust and boost controller will be fine at pretty much any power level. If you call Berk and tell them you want the exhaust, ic and dp... they will probably cut you a break.... and you can go pick it up to save shipping costs (they are in Irvine Auto Mall).

PS. I'd get something a bit wider than 7.5" in the back for the wheels if you ever want to run decent tire sizes.

not sure what you have against ebay smic, I bought one, works beautifully, only thing it did not come with was a fanshroud, but for the 400$ I saved, I think I can pick one up :p

If you do buy one off ebay, make sure they have 1000+ feedback or call the company themselves. The site says they are good till like 500hp or so, the shop said i'd be safe going to the 400 level, which I have no plans of even taking my 2 that far I'd be happy around 300

also berk is good stuff, and like he said, could get a price break if your buying everything not just one piece.
