First of all I want to thank the members that gave me advice on the problems that I had with my recently acquired 1st car (91 mr2 turbo).
Now here's what I did:
-Flushed down the complete cooling system(including radiator) hose by hose, line by line and checked for clogs.
-Sucked all the water out of the coolant lines with a vacumm (inlcudung the reserve bottle)
-Replaced the thermostat & Thermostat seal
-Replaced the hose that was leaking like crazy
that went fine so far, I just finished putting the car together about 1 hour ago.
Now here's the new problems:
-The 2 front radiator fans WILL NOT kick in, I unplugged the thermoswitch on the radiator and the fans started working, does this mean I need a new thermoswitch?
-The engine compartment cooling fan WILL NOT kick in, I don't know what sets it off or makes it work so I have no idea what's wrong with that, I did take out the fan and tested it with a battery charger and it started spining. OVERALL the fans work outside the car but when installed they don't do their job, I checked all the fuses/relays and all of them are fine. and yes I'm only 17 years old like you read on the other postings so some advice from you my experienced fellas would be great, thanks in advance to all! I really appreciate it!
Some advice please?
What makes you so sure the fans aren't working??? They may just not be at the correct operating temp....
On your engine lid there is a temperature sensor.... trace it back and unplug it. This will cause your intercooler fan to run all of the time.
I lef t the car runing for about 15 mins then it started overheating, the temp gauge went all the way up to the H, and none of the fans kicked in, that's why I know the fans aren't working, what do you suggest I do? I really dont' know what to do

Well if the fans work when you put direct power to them..... you next step would be to check the temp sensors I suppose.
You more than likely need a temperature sensor or switch. Like they said, if what you're testing works, then its something else. Just backtrack and you will find you rsolution.
Make sure there are no other leaks. The cooling system must be properly bled. Check that the tstat opens. If you're absolutely sure you did all 3 correctly, and the radiator fan still won't kick, then check the temp sensor on the radiator. Check resistance per bgb spec. I think it's 1.3k ohms at operating temp. If the reading is higher, just replace it and re-bleed the system. If your car has a/c, turn it on and see if both fans work. Also, don't let the engine get to full HOT on the gauge. It's no joke doing the head on this car.
could be piston slap...i had a friend that had his motor built by inline pro and it had the same sound your describing...he called inline pro and sent the block back and they said it was piston slap so they redid the block for him..
