Gen1 wacky A/C

my mechanic got it OK now. but we;re still are scratching our collective heads....

can anyone suggest good shop manuals (for 1985 MKI MR2 NA) that have decent photos or drawings of the climate control stuff (auto air conditioning themostat/temp sensor, relays & climate control amplifier) in the dash, etc.??? It looks like a few of the pieces are not happy due to age and/or vandals.

Thanks!

Michael

he says it is a problem with the automatic air conditioning relays; it was clicking/cycling like crazy. I said it sounded like a slow speed fan, but it really was just a relay switching on/of/on really fast. the issue seems to be the climate control amplifier. the a/c 'works' but for how long we can't be sure.
he doesn't want to start tearing apart the wiring and the dash without a good manual...
good thing winter is coming.

on a unrelated note, has anyone had problems with corrosion of the cooling system plumbing etc that cropped up when doing work on clutch etc.???? I am facing clutch work and wonder if I am opening an ugly can of worms...

Those 2 systems are unrelated. Corrosion would be due to lack of sufficient/proper coolant .

no kiddin? OK, I know I am not mechanically inclined, but I do know those two are intimate friends...

what I was wondering is whether my mechanic's alarm that the corrosion of the cooling system might be a problem physically when working on the engine and replacing the clutch... something about the age and conditions of the parts leading to unforeseen expenses... the corrosion he seems to be referring to is on the outside of the piping, not internally (I think).
???

engine yes, clutch no...

automatic cars use oil coolers for their transmissions... mostly external... but some use internal coolers inside the radiator. and thats the only time the systems are shared. you will not come in contact w/ any coolant when removing your manual transmission.

as for the A/C. was it the condensor fan relay or the compressor clutch relay that keeps cycling on and off...?
