Wheels & Tires

So, I have decided to buy some big and wider wheels & tires. I'm buying the Blitz Type 03 Wheels with Toyo Proxes T1R Tires. Now I have a little difficult picking the right wheel sizes for 91 mr2. Keep in mind I am going to roll my fenders. Here is the specs for the Wheels
SIZEBOLT PATTERNOFFSET HI DISCOFFSET LOW DISC 17x75x114.3
+28, +32, +35 17x85x114.3+35, +41+32, +38, +45 17x95x114.3+22, +41+32, +38, +45 17x105x114.32245
Now in the front I want to place a 215 wide tires at 17in wheel, so I believe the 17x7 with an offset of +32. Now for the rear I want to make it as wide as I can. I am trying to bolt 800hp to the ground. I was thinking 285 wide tire would work. Will that fit on the 17x9 or the 17x10? If it fits the 17x9 what offset would I need?

If you are shooting for 800whp you must have deep pockets..... go get wheels custom made.

a 285 would have to be a 10 inch wide...

a 17x7 w/ a 215.... w/ a positive 32 offset isn't much of a performance design...

those are typical "tuner" numbers...

your looking at like a 225 in the front and maybe a 275 in the rear.

wheels 17x8.5 or 17x9.0 w/ an offset of maybe +22 in the front and a +10 in the rear.

these are numbers i'm just throwing out there... but they are ballpark of where you limitation for stock fenders and wheel wells... i mean you can only roll them so much

Well you can only increase the width on the front tires so much before you loose your ability to turn. I'm not sure how wide you can make the front. I no you can role the rear and add up to 11 inch tires. I think I'm going to have to move to a 265 the toyo t1r's only go to 265 on the 17's

Sorry if thread jacking but quick question. Will some 5mm spacers help to fit a 17x8, 225/45/17 +45 offset wheel fit onto the front of the SW20?

^That sounds too wide for the front. Though that offset is very tucked...

Yea.... +45 is way too high of offset.... +40 would be closer to flush depending on your camber. You might have to go with a slimmer profile tire..... but you can definitely fit a 225 in the front on 17x8's.

you don't really want a high positive offset... you want closest to zero w/o rubbing... negative if possible. it will have the same effect as spacers plus you get a wider stance.

you get more of the "indy" effect when it comes to handling because your moving the pivot point farther from the wheel centerline increasing the turning radius

So you're saying that i can't run the tires on the rims with 5mm spacers and call it a day right?

Spacers are retarded.... just buy wheels with the correct offsets to begin with.... even +40 would look silly on an MR2. +38 minimum in the rear.... plus they should be staggered.

I can see where you are going with your idea of spacers being silly, but the thing is i was given some rims that are 17X8 and i was going to use them if they would fit with minimal fabrication. Seeing as that isn't going to happen i guess i'll just be using stock Rims.
