Driving the 200 miles from North Philly to Connecticut. Somehow I lost all the oil in my car and dropped it on the exhaust and smoked off. I seen it and pulled over immediately and shutdown. Put oil in the motor and started it back up and it had a nasty knock.
Called AAA and had it flatbedded in CT and began to stip it apart.
Somehow Someway the oil filter worked its way loose and dropped all the oil. I haven't changed my oil in close to 4k miles.
So I had to find the knock. No. 2 Rod bearing spun...
So I wanted to save for a 3sgte swap. But i have no income. I just moved, I haven't started working yet. So its time for an overhaul.
Close to 400.00 in parts and special tools later. I'm sitting around waiting for the seal kit and piston rings to come in.
But I miss my car. I'm driving a 86 S10 piece of shit. FUCK i hate being w/o that car.
Oh Shit ! I feel ya Drew. Blew mine awhile back as you know. it's running OK, but I can hear an intermittent tapping noise I have not been able to track down yet. Good luck with the rebuild..
i know what its like, my NA motor could not keep oil in it. so i decided to do the 3s swap. even with the research I did before hand, I was not prepared for this undertaking and its been ages... 6+ months since my mr2 has been on the street. mostly waiting for a part. in this case im STILL waiting on finding the rear axle... though not having any cash does not help :p dealership wants 243.90 each, then I need to buy some other stuff. least you have a car lol. I lost my job, and my company vehicle went with it

ouch...
i'm doing all this work... and now its supposed to snow tonight. my ground clearance and fiberglass body. won't make it 6 feet in the snow.
if i was still in So Cal... i'd still have my tops off for another month or so.
I'm not trying to advertise, but FYI, I am planning on selling my spare setup sometime, so I will let you know about it.
I have a complete 1992 3SGTE drivetrain (motor, transmission, axles, intercooler, etc); wiring harness; air conditioing; power steering; alternator; turbo brakes (rotors, calipers, entire front end cross member and all parts except the shocks); the turbo speedometer; spare interior parts; and some other miscellaneous parts.
I am in Houston and was thinking of letting it all go for $600-
I'm in no hurry, but if you need it now and are interested, let me know.
The catch is just that you have to pick it up (or arrange shipping). I bought it to drop the 3SGTE in my 91 NA. I am out of time and my son wants to buy the 91 as an NA. He isn't a performance driver and needs sporty reliability.
I am in no hurry, but I also don't have a lot of time to deal with it, I will let it go for 600 if it is a convenient sale.
