silencer question for exhausts

how much does a silencer affect the airflow? does it nullify the effects of having a bigger exhaust? lots of systems have the option to get one.

is it worth getting an exhaust with one? then just popping it out when you want to head to the track or just fool around? or is it a waste all together and just spend the money for a "quieter" exhaust setup?

if i go silencer route was looking at the koracing R1 system. http://koracing.net/viewproduct.php?folder=3&product=82 its about 550 shipped. the videos they have are nice. showing the sound. Very nice with silencer out, but not something i want to listen to every day.

or the berk http://www.berktechnology.com/shop/p...D=125&P_ID=410 which is 600+ shipping so price is about the same so thats not a factor. more or less looking at the diff of sound. not going to push enough power for that to be an issue. 3XX is my goal.

A silencer will kill power, but its nice to have when you don't wanna hear it. I don't have one on my 2, but mine isn't a daily driver so I don't mind. I had one on a car before, and I found myself having it in maybe 5% of the time.

aren't both the KO and berk dual muffler setups??...you won't need silencers for them...if they were single it would be loud....

The R1 is a single exit.... probably would want to have the silencer for it. You won't need a silencer for the Berk as Q mentioned.... they aren't that loud. I would personally pick the Berk over the KO exhaust. Single exits on MR2's just don't look right.

I was running a CT27, KO DP and Berk Exhaust.... it wasn't that loud unless you were in high revs. The turbo does a pretty good job of muffling exhaust noise. If you are looking for something quieter you would have to look into the Fujitsubo (Veeedddy nice, kinda hard to get), Greddy SP (2.5in piping... not so great for power), or HKS Sport (ugly).

The Berk is basically a replica of the Greddy PEX.... check the sticky for exhausts.... there should a sound clip on MadPSI's site.

found the Fujitsubo Legalis - R, 874+ shipping and stuff. wasnt impressed lol. specially when the berk is only 599. probably just go with the berk unit myself, then i dont have to worry about the air flow problems of using the r1 with a silencer.
